Though the history of ice hockey organisations in the French city of Bordeaux dates back to the 1970s, the Bordeaux Boxers, as we know them today, were founded in 1998. After many seasons in France's lower levels of ice hockey, the Bordeaux Boxers were fully professionalised in 2014 and were promoted to the country’s top tier ahead of the 2015/16 season and have played there ever since.
Though they've made the league playoff quarter-finals and semi-finals multiple times and even contested the Ligue Magnus championship final in 2023/24, the French club's best season was in 2025/26 when they won their very first national title - earning them their first qualification for the Champions Hockey League.
