- Bordeaux led 2-0 after 1 period
- Loic Farnier: 1 goal, 1 assist for Bordeaux
- Pardubice secure Playoff spot
Dynamo Pardubice erased a 2-0 lead and beat French champion Bordeaux Boxers 5-2 to secure a spot in the Champions Hockey League Playoffs.
Needing the win in their own Playoffs pursuit, Bordeaux weathered an early storm, then struck twice in the last seven minutes of the first period.
Loïc Farnier opened the scoring at 13:38, standing in front of the net and getting his stick on a bouncing puck, which re-directed past Malcolm-Jamaal Subban.
Pardubice looked to equalise on the game’s first powerplay, but instead Bordeaux went up 2-0. On a 2-on-1 rush, Farnier fed Pierre-Olivier Morin, who one-timed it past Subban.
Down by a pair, Pardubice brought more offence in the middle frame and Oleksii Yevtiekhov got a breakaway but Gaëtan Richard made a big save on the backhand deke attempt. Then Pardubice got their second powerplay of the game and got some chances but were unable to capitalise.
With less than three minutes left in the second period, the Czech champs finally broke through when David Tomášek re-directed Miloš Kelemen’s centring pass through Richard. Video replay was needed to confirm that the puck completely crossed the goal line.
Pardubice tied the game on a strange play with 12:28 remaining in regulation time. Vladimír Sobotka’s initial shot missed the net and Jáchym Kondelík banked it in off goaltender Richard around the other side of the net. Bordeaux challenged the play for goaltender interference, but again, the goal stood.
The game only remained tied for 40 seconds, however. Pardubice took their first lead of the game off the rush, Lukáš Sedlák set up Jan Mandát for a blistering one-timer from the middle of the slot.
From that point, they never looked back. Sobotka made it 4-2 with a goal at the tail end of a powerplay with 6:30 to play and Kelemen added a late empty-netter to round out the scoring.
