- 4 goals were scored on the powerplay
- Färjestad pick up second victory
- Färjestad dominated the game in terms of shots
Färjestad Karlstad cruised to victory, scoring six goals in front of their home crowd and securing another +3 points to bring their total to six on the Champions Hockey League Regular Season Standings. It wasn’t the toughest battle for the Swedes, as KAC Klagenfurt struggled to keep up. Despite creating chances, the Austrians couldn’t prevent the Swedes from dominating on the scoreboard.
The first period was action-packed, with Färjestad jumping to a three-goal lead. The opening goal came at 6:15 when Emil Alba pounced on a rebound and sent the puck between Sebastian Dahm’s pads. Oskar Steen then took full advantage of a powerplay opportunity, scoring twice in the same two-minute man-advantage that was given for a hooking call to extend the lead to 3-0. Klagenfurt finally responded during their own powerplay, as Thomas Hundertpfund found the loose puck and fired it past the netminder, reducing the deficit to 3-1.
The second period saw fast-paced play as both teams rushed up and down the ice, though fewer risks were taken as they settled into the game. Penalties were frequent, with physical post-whistle play resulting in roughing calls on both sides. Once again, Färjestad capitalised on a powerplay after a tripping call, with Axel Bergkvist firing a shot from the blue line just over the goalie’s shoulder to restore their comfortable lead.
In the final period, Färjestad added two more goals, increasing their advantage to a whopping 6-1. Klagenfurt managed to score a late consolation goal, ending the game 6-2 in favour of Färjestad. The Swedes walked away with three points, while Klagenfurt will want to forget this game as soon as possible.
