- Filip Cederqvist: 3 goals, 2 assists for Frölunda
- Julien Guillaume: 1 assist, 8/9 on faceoffs for Bordeaux
- Loss officially eliminates Bordeaux from Playoffs
Frölunda Gothenburg defeated the Bordeaux Boxers 11-1 in the final Champions Hockey League Regular Season game for each team. Defending CHL Champions Frölunda were headed back to the Playoffs regardless of the outcome, but the defeat extinguished Bordeaux’s faint remaining hope of advancing.
Frölunda were led offensively by Filip Cederqvist, who tallied three goals and two assists.
Graeme Clarke opened the scoring for Frölunda just past the seven-minute mark off the rush, ripping a shot past Quentin Papillon from the right wing.
The Boxers thought they had evened the score less than two minutes later when Loïc Farnier drove hard to the net shorthanded but, following a video review, the goal was disallowed.
That was a blow to Bordeaux, and then two Frölunda powerplay goals on the same penalty made the score 3-0 by the 10-minute mark. First it was Bosse Meijer on a rebound, and then Cederqvist re-directed Meijer’s centring pass from in front 36 seconds later.
Frölunda continued to press and Samuel Fagemo made it 4-0 before the first period was finished, then Liam Dower-Nilsson and Max Friberg extended the lead to 6-0 in the second period.
Tom Guidoux got Bordeaux on the board with 5:01 to go in the middle frame on a partial breakaway, finding space between the pads of Lars Johansson for the French team’s lone highlight of the night.
Dower-Nilsson made it 7-1 with his second of the game late in the second and four more goals in the third – including Cederqvist’s second and third – rounded out the scoring of this crazy high-scoring game in Sweden.
