- Siikonen scored two goals for KooKoo
- KooKoo scored four goals within seven minutes
- Klagenfurt controlled large portions of play
KooKoo Kouvola claimed their second win of the 2026/27 Champions Hockey League season with a 5-3 score against KAC Klagenfurt on the road. They scored four within seven minutes in the opening period to set the tone of this back-and-forth game against the Austrians.
10 minutes into the game, Miska Siikonen opened the scoring. Capitalizing on a powerplay, Siikonen received a pass and deflected the puck in front. That goal seemed to have unleashed all hell, because three more followed, as Ville Meskanen found the back of the net from a distance, Robert Rooba contributed a few moments later after a slick-handed feed from Oskari Luoto and finally, Kim Nousiainen set the definitive score of 4-0 before the first intermission.
Klagenfurt showed some real pushback in the middle frame, striking twice in a span of three minutes thanks to Thimo Nickl and Nicholas Petersen, closing the gap to a two-goal margin, but otherwise failed to push KooKoo back and further.
Early in the final frame, Klagenfurt’s continued pressure paid off, cutting KooKoo’s lead to a slim one goal. But KooKoo wouldn’t let the game slip away, answering right back just 18 seconds later, as Siikonen buried his second and final goal of the night to restore their two-goal cushion. From there, it was all over for the Austrians, even pulling the goalie couldn’t spark a miracle, sealing a 5-3 final score for KooKoo, as Klagenfurt lost their fourth CHL game in a row.
