- Växjö put on a defensive clinic against the Swiss
- Genève were held scoreless for the first time this season
- Ludvig Persson posted his first shutout of the season
Ludvig Persson played an outstanding game stopping all the shots he faced as he helped his club to their second win in as many games as the Växjö Lakers handed Genève-Servette their second loss of the season with a 4-0 final.
Just under 20 minutes into the game, it was home team Växjö taking the lead when Olivier Nadeau found twine with less than a minute to play in the opening period. A touch pass from Max Isaksson found Nadeau just above the crease as he went backhand forehand to put it past Robert Mayer and get his club on the board.
The Swedes continued stretching their lead in the middle stanza when Karl Henriksson produced a tip in front after Keegan Lowe found him wide open in the slot. Olle Karlsson eventually made it a 3-0 contest when he capitalised on Mayer mishandling the puck below the red line. The netminder attempted to pass it from behind the net, but the forward intercepted it before guiding the puck into the yawning cage.
Lowe would cap off the scoring in the final frame, securing the empty-netter from his own zone, to cement his club's fourth victory of the 2026/27 campaign, as the Lakers beat Geneve, coaches by their former long-term Head Coach Sam Hallam.
